Three days of event, activities planned
More than 80 artists are expected to participate in the 35th Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts Sept. 13-17.
Art ranging from paintings, to photography and sculpture will be available for purchase.
Events are held at Joseph Community Center, 102 East First Street, and the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture, 403 N. Main Street.
Friday’s Opening Night Reception 7 p.m. at the Community Center is an opportunity to preview the featured artwork as well as meet and welcome the artists. The catered reception of hors d’oeuvres and fine wine also includes a unique hand-painted wine glass for each guest. Tickets are $20 in advance ($25 at the door), and can be purchased at The Bookloft in Enterprise, BeeCrowBee in Joseph or online at wallowavalleyarts.org.
The Festival is free and open to the public at the Joseph Community Center 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
Saturday culminates with the high-energy Night of the Quick Draw where artists are given 90 minutes to create a complete work of art. Patrons bid silently as the creations take shape. The bidding turns lively and brisk, during the final few minutes of the event as all Quick Draw pieces are sold that same evening.
Admission tis $5 per person. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and artists begin work at 7 p.m. A special raffle of a painting, by the late Bob Fergison, will also be held on Saturday evening to benefit the Wallowa Valley Humane Society.
