10 Reasons to Attend the 35th Annual Wallowa Valley Festival of Arts

1. Joseph Gallery Walk • 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 starts and ends at the Josephy Center for Arts and Culture (JCAC). Showing all Galleries on Main Street Joseph. Free. Open to the Public. Put your name in the hat, at each gallery you visit, for a chance to win five free raffle tickets. Raffle prize is a landscape oil painting by the late local artist Bob Fergison.

2. En Plein Air Competition Quick Finish • 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Josephy Center for Arts and Culture. Free, Open to the public. Artists will be at the Josephy Center to put finishing touches on their work, mat, frame and hang them. Follow the artists during the day (most paint on main street, or ask at JCAC for locations) and watch the final leg of the competition. Artwork will be on display noon Sept. 15 and remain through Sunday at 2 p.m.

3. En Plein Air Reception • 6 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at Josephy Center for Arts and Culture, Free. Open to the public. All work will be displayed and ready for viewing and purchasing. Awards presented. Paintings will be on display at JCAC through 2 p.m. Sunday September 17th.

4. Opening Night Reception • 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15 at Joseph Community Center. Tickets $25 at the door, $20 in advance. Available online at wallowavalleyarts.org, The Bookloft in Enterprise, or Beecrowbee in Joseph. Mingle with the artists. Select a free-hand painted wine glass created by local artisans specifically for this event. Hors d’ oeuvres and wine available. Includes a special showcase of local youth artists and an opportunity to bid on silent auction pieces.

5. Ruby Peak Film Festival Showing • 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 15, and 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at Josephy Center for Arts and Culture. Free, Open to the public. Selected showings of winning short films from past festivals.

6. Open Public Art Showing • 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16, at Joseph Community Center. Free, Open to the public. Art exhibits, live music, artist demonstrations and more. Performers include Diane Daggett, Elwood and Jezebel’s Mother.

7. Pastel Workshop with Bonnie Griffith• 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at Joseph Community Center. Tickets are $50. Email Bonnie bzgriff53@gmail.com

8. Quick Draw • 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16. Raffle Drawing 9 p.m. at Joseph Community Center. Tickets $5 at the door. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., painting starts 7 p.m. Fast-paced, fun-filled evening where artists create and complete a work of art in 90 minutes while patrons bid on the pieces as they come to life. Live music, art, hors d’oeuvre and a full no-host bar. Live Music by “Homemade Jam!”

9. Open Public Showing • 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17. Silent auction bids close 1:30 p.m. at Joseph Community Center. Free. Open to the public.

10. “Art That Makes You Laugh” with Jeff Leedy • noon Sunday, Sept. 17 at Joseph Community Center. Free. Open to the public.
