Sen. Bill Hansell, who represents Wallowa County, was appointed by Senate President Peter Courtney as the new Republican senator on the Legislative Commission on Indian Services Jan. 4.

“It is an honor to be appointed to LCIS. I look forward to working with all nine federally recognized Oregon tribes and continuing the legacy of strong government to government relations,” Hansell said.

Hansell joins fellow legislators Sen. Arnie Roblan, Rep. Caddy McKeown and Rep. Sherrie Sprenger along with members from every tribal government on the panel.
