The Women Infants and Children program, commonly known as WIC, has partnered with Olive Branch Family Health to offer its service in the city of Wallowa monthly.
Appointments will held at the Wallowa Olive Branch satellite center, 211 Second Street in Wallowa, every third Wednesday of the month 1-7 p.m.
“I know I have several families in Wallowa that I am servicing. It’s very difficult to get the kiddos in for their appointments up in Enterprise,” said Brandy Shelton, WIC certifier for the county. “This will be the first month I do WIC down there. We’ll be doing midcertifications, recertifications and individual nutrition education visits. I’ll still be there when you get off work.”
Shelton will also be donning her Head Start and Early Head Start referral hat and opening WIC sessions to questions about Head Start for families curious about enrolling children in the programs.
Shelton has been working to reduce wait time on lists to get into the programs and make them more available throughout the county.
