Mary Kennison

Feb. 5, 1927 –– Dec. 11, 2017

Mary Elizabeth Kennison passed away at home on December 11, 2017, with her beloved husband, Harry, at her side. Mary was born on Feb. 5, 1927, to Lester and Lettie Jackson in Wallowa. She married the love of her life, Harry Kennison, on Dec. 2, 1949, when they formed a loving partnership that endured for sixty-eight years.

Mary was a natural athlete, a talented acrobat and a marvelous dancer. She was skilled at baton twirling, horseback riding and water skiing, too. Mary had a well-rounded sense of humor and was famous for playing practical jokes on family and friends.

Two dear friends said recently that some of the best times of their lives were spent with Harry and Mary, who was “just plain fun to be around.” All of Mary’s family and friends will miss her authenticity, beauty, sparkle, and spirit.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janine Kennison, and her son, Kyle Kennison. Mary is survived by her husband, Harry Kennison, her son, Gary Miller (Jolene Miller), her daughter, Kara Kennison (James Baumberger), and six wonderful grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, at the Bollman Funeral Home in Enterprise. A life celebration will be held in Vancouver, Wash., in the new year.
