May 21, 1931 –– Jan. 9, 2018
Bonnie Jean Aleson Sasser, 87, went to join her dear deceased husband, Dean. She passed away at her home in Portland where she had lived with her friend and caretaker, Marge Hixon.
Bonnie was born in Wallowa to Julius and Myrtle Aleson and was raised on the family dairy farm on Hurricane Creek Road in Enterprise. Her childhood memories included watching her parents dance and attending family picnics and dinners.
She graduated from Enterprise High School in 1949 and attended Kinman Business College in Spokane, Wash. She then married the love of her life, Dean Sasser, in 1953. The couple resided in Enterprise until they were transferred to Portland by Pacific Power and Light.
They were blessed with three boys, Gregory Earl (deceased), Gary Aleson, who lives in Hood River with his wife Trudy, and Grant Douglas, who lives in Gresham with his wife Karen.
Bonnie enjoyed family reunions and cooking for her many friends and relatives. She sent cards for all occasions and never forgot a birthday.
She enjoyed supporting her sons’ ice hockey events and other sports activities while they were growing up and most recently was an avid Trailblazers fan.
Her “extended family” includes Jerry and Nancy Hook and their children and her late husband’s siblings, Grant (deceased) and Ernest Sasser and Cherryl Zacharias and their families.
She grew up with and was close to her Stein cousins and their families. She stayed in touch with and followed all of their lives through letters, pictures, phone calls, visits and Facebook.
A memorial service will take place in Enterprise later this spring.
