Darrell Bruce Perkins

May 21, 1938 –– Feb. 16, 2018

Darrell Bruce Perkins, 79, passed away at home. He was born in Sacramento to Charles and Edna Perkins, the youngest of nine children.

He attended Gresham High School in Gresham, Ore., graduating in 1956. Darrell attended University of California at Davis and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1962 while also being active in the National Guard.

Darrell married Ann (Sonntag) Perkins in Davis Sept. 6, 1959. He taught mathematics for two years in Yuba City, Calif.

He re-entered school at Western Washington University and received a master’s degree in physics in 1965. The family moved to Fort Collins, Colo., where Darrell taught at Colorado State University in Mathematics until 1973.

During his stay in Colorado, he was an avid outdoors man and was a backpacking guide in the Rocky Mountains 1968-1973.

In 1973, the family returned to Oregon to reside in Enterprise. Darrell worked as a tree faller until 1979 when he was injured. He then taught science at Enterprise High School until his retirement in 1996.

He enjoyed being in the woods, hunting and fishing and hunting with hound dogs. Darrell is survived by his wife, Ann; son, William (Bill) of West Richland, Wash.; daughters, Marilyn (Ed) of Lincoln, Neb., and Roxanne (Rodney) of Imbler as well as eight grandchildren and sisters Charlotte Kogel and Janice Perrier.

Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Edna, brothers Chuck, Ray and Richard and sisters Edna Little, Wanda Smith and Rhoda Perkins.

Darrell requested no services. Contributions in Darrell’s memory can be made to the Hound Hunters Defense Fund or the Enterprise FFA Chapter.
