Blade Suto of Joseph was crowned the overall champion the annual Wallowa County Elks Hoop Shoot at Enterprise High School on Dec. 11. He pumped in 19 of 25 free-throws to take the honor.
Students from Joseph and Enterprise participated. Six county winners were named:
Students participated in individual schools hoop shoot contests as a a preliminary shoot off to the Wallowa County Elks Hoop Shoot.
Enterprise
McKenzie Harguess, 8–9 years girl; Bryce Yanke, 8–9 years boy; Tessa Duncan, 10–11 years girl; Tyler Knapp, 10–11 years boy; Asiya Salim 12–13 years girl; and Caden Fent, 12–13 years boy.
Joseph
Calleigh Johnson, 8–9 years girl; Malcolm Albee, 8–9 years boy; Cooper Nave, 10–11 years boy; Jaxon Grover, 10–11 years boy; Molly Curry, 12–13 years girl; Blade Suto, 12–13 years boy.
The Wallowa County winners –– McKenzie Harguess, Bryce Yanke, Cooper Nave, Tyler Knapp, Asiya Salim and Blade Suto –– head to Sandstone Middle School in Hermiston Jan. 7, 2018, to compete against champions from Baker, Milton-Freewater, Hermiston, Hood River, The Dalles, Condon and Heppner in the Northeast District Championships. The winners from there go to Salem for the Oregon State Elks Championships in February.
