Diet Tips for Good Health

• Eat a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables every day.

• Shop at local farmer's markets for fresh produce.

• Avoid fast food restaurants and processed food.

• Drink juice, milk, soy milk, water, club soda sweetened with fruit juice, iced tea or anything other than cola and other sodas.

• Substitute popcorn or pretzels for high-fat potato chips or french fries.

• Eat breakfast: homemade banana bread, granola, cereal, toast with peanut butter, a hard-boiled egg, or anything that's easy and has some protein to start your day off right.

• Eat fish at least once a week.

• If trying to lose weight, use smaller plates and bowls to help you control your serving sizes.

• The American Cancer Society recommends that men drink no more than 2 alcoholic drinks per day, and that women have no more than one drink per day to lower the risk of cancers of the mouth, throat, larynx, esophagus, liver and breast.
