This will be the second year for the Stockgrowers Rodeo, a fundraiser for agricultural scholarships that enjoyed a bang-up beginning last year. Events at the rodeo are a little different than at most rodeos - there is the stick horse race and goat tail untying for kids; two-man-team horse roping; three-man-team cow doctoring; ranch team sorting, three-man-team branding; a ranch horse race (trot halfway, run the rest); working cow dog event, and the popular Rock Jack Building World Championship competition. Last year eight well-regarded fence builders from around the county and nearby Union County came down out of the steep canyons to demonstrate their skill at building the unique above-ground, rock-weighted, fence post system that allows ranchers to string fence in ground too rocky to dig a fence post hole. The day of events ends with a banquet at Cloverleaf Hall -then, it's time to dance. 541-426-6602.
