Despite the fact that PBDEs are found in breastmilk, breastfeeding is still the best way to give optimal nutrition and health benefits to infants in their first year of life. Breastmilk has many beneficial compounds such as omega-3 fatty acids, plus antibodies that strengthen the immune system. Breastmilk is easier to digest than formula; it costs nothing and is always available. Also, the physical contact between a breastfeeding mother and her baby is so important.
