Health Tip of the Week: Handwashing

Washing your hands frequently is the best way to avoid illnesses such as colds and the flu. These viruses, as well as the germs that cause more serious diseases such as hepatitis A and meningitis, can live on surfaces such as countertops, doorknobs, pens and telephones. If you pick up germs with your hands and then touch your own mouth, nose or eyes, you can infect yourself and get sick. Washing your hands frequently and keeping your hands away from your face is an excellent way to stay healthy.
