The Family Health Insurance Assistance Program (FHIAP), which helps Oregonians afford private insurance, will add up to 9,000 people over the next six months.

Applicants must be uninsured for six months (or come directly from the OHP) and meet income guidelines. FHIAP pays 50 to 95 percent of the health insurance monthly premium.

The program serves people who can't get health insurance at work or who are offered insurance at work but need help paying for the premium for themselves or to add family members.

FHIAP's toll-free number: 1-888-564-9669.
