In Babe Ruth action the Enterprise White Sox and the Joseph Rockies split a high scoring doubleheader Saturday at Daggett Field in Joseph. The White Sox were the victors of the first contest, outscoring the Rockies 21-11. Joseph's Rockies won the second game 11-7.
The Sox jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the first inning, scoring their six runs on five hits. The Rockies were able to pull within four 12-8 heading into the seventh inning.
The White Sox then put on a batting frenzy in the seventh inning sending 14 batters to the plate and outscoring the Rockies 9-3 for the 21-11 final score.
Ben Garnett had three hits for the Sox followed by Kyle Stewart, Brett McCleary and winning pitcher Nathan DeSpain with two hits each.
Jordan Maslach had the hot bat for the Rockies with three hits including a double in the fifth. Riley Makin had two hits including a double in the seventh. Chase Zollman also had two hits, both of which were doubles in the second and seventh innings.
The second game of the day saw the Rockies take command ousting the White Sox 11-7. The Sox jumped out to a 4-2 lead at the end of the second inning. The Rockies came charging back in the third behind the bats of Zollman, Makin and Maslach who each hit doubles in the inning. Both teams scored two runs in the fifth before going cold until the seventh. The Rockies scored two runs in the seventh to win the contest 11-7.
Lane Bailey had three hits including a double to lead the Rockies. Makin and Maslach contributed two hits each. Cole Phinney had two hits for the White Sox.
