The alleged theft of Lostine's Jess Allen's wallet from his pickup and subsequent spending spree with his bank debit card and credit cards has landed two people in the Umatilla County jail under $20,000 bail.

Vagrant Sean Ellefson, 23, and 20-year-old Brandi Salmon of Wallowa were apprehended in Bend on a temporary warrant out of Wallowa County two days after the theft was reported June 3. According to investigating officer Dan Courtney of the Wallowa County Sheriff's Office, Salmon is the step-daughter of Allen.

Courtney said that $300 was taken on the Pioneer Bank debit card and over $3,000 of purchases made on the credit cards.

The two are being charged with theft I, conspiracy, identity theft, fraudulent use of a credit card, computer crimes and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, said Courtney.
