The Zumwalt's Phantom earthquake

The earthquake that never happened. The M4.9 quake reported on Zumwalt Prairie at the headwaters of Camp Creek this morning was a phantom-- a mistaken calculation by computers at the Pacific Northwest seismic network when waves from a quake in Idaho and another in Nevada arrived simultaneously. Seismologists at the lab and at the USGS had the error corrected quickly, but not before a false notification had been sent out. The Phantom quake has now been deleted form the official seismic record.
