The deadline for public or private agencies interested in applying for Emergency Food and Shelter program funds is Thursday, April 8.

Wallowa County has been awarded $6,587 in federal funds under the national program.

A local board is charged with distributing the funds appropriate by Congress.

The purpose is to help expand the capacity of food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the county.

Wallowa County has distributed the emergency food/shelter funds previously through Community Connection.

Potential applicants are asked to contact county board chairman Jerry Weaver at 541 426-3305.
