More than 200 colorful, immaculate vintage vehicles are scheduled to roll into Joseph this weekend in the 14th Annual Oregon Mountain Cruise, scheduled on Saturday, June 15, and Sunday, June 16.

Main Street of Joseph is packed with a combination of cars and car-lovers during the cruise every year. There will be an opportunity to admire them - and vote for your favorite for the coveted People's Choice Award - during the Show and Shine event between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday.

Last year's King of the Mountain winner, a 1932 Dodge Victoria 5-passenger coupe depicted on this year's Cruise T-shirts, is expected to drive up the street alone as the last car to park between 9 and 9:15 a.m.

Most of the Mountain Cruise vehicles are antiques or classics, though there are categories featuring modern cars. Trophies are offered in such divisions as unrestored car or truck, street rod, modified car or truck, muscle car, custom car or truck (from 1949 to present), cranker (pre-1931) and orphan restored car.

"We have a lot of new entries this year, so there will be a lot of new cars for people to look at," said car rally chairman Chuck Garrett.

This year the Mountain Cruise was fortunately moved one week later in June, thereby bypassing last weekend's nasty weather. "I had it planned that way," claimed Garrett. "I knew it would snow."

About 3 p.m. Saturday all the entries will drive in a procession to Enterprise, which will be celebrating its annual Summerfest event.

The adult public is invited to join Cruise participants for a dance at the Joseph Community Center featuring the 50s and 60s rock & roll band Citizen from Moscow, Idaho, at 9 p.m. Saturday.

Sunday there will be a poker run for participants to complete another year of cruisin' in the Wallowa Mountains. A new Sunday event will be a winners' circle at the boat launch at the foot of Wallowa Lake from 9-10 a.m. During that hour all trophy winners will be asked to gather, so everyone can see the Cruise's top vehicles all in one place.
