WALLOWA — Wallowa resident Ron Pickens will present his plans for a proposed Bicycle Playground to the Wallowa City Council when it meets Tuesday, Nov. 16.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. at City Hall.

Pickens, who works for Building Healthy Families and the Alternative School in Enterprise, spearheaded the refurbishment of the Enterprise Skate Park earlier this year. He hopes to see something similar in Wallowa.

“My hope with it is that when a kiddo pulls up and sees it that it’s friendly, fun and inviting, very much like a playground,” he said in October. “(Kids can) utilize bikes, scooters, roller blades and skateboards. It’s this colorful space that kids can play in.”

Pickens noted that while the county has a quality skate park in Enterprise, it’s often too far away for kids in Wallowa to access. Thus, he’s hoping to see something similar in Wallowa. He’s hoping to get the city’s support.

Also on Tuesday’s agenda, the council will consider plans for a Christmas decoration and lighting contest and hear department reports.
