THURSDAYPeople interested in weather who would like to volunteer as Skywarn Weather Spotters for the National Weather Service are invited to a two-hour training session at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Wallowa County Justice Center conference room.
THURSDAY-FRIDAYThe Enterprise High School drama department will present William Shakespeare's "The Comedy of Errors" at 7 p.m. in the EHS multipurpose room in two performances. Period costumes are on loan from the Ashland Shakespearean Theatre. A silent auction is planned as a fund raiser for the drama department.
FRIDAY-SATURDAYThe MidValley Theatre Company's production of "George Washington Slept Here" is scheduled at Providence Academy in Lostine at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday. Performances are also planned May 5-7.
SATURDAYThe Roll into Spring Wallowa Valley Auto and RV Show will be held from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Enterprise, which will be filled with new automobiles, recreational vehicles and other motorized vehicles. Everyone is invited to this new event, which is being billed as the biggest RV show in northeast Oregon.
It's time for the grownups to dress up for the University of Enterprise Adult Prom at 8 p.m. Saturday in the Enterprise Elks Lodge, which will be transformed into an appropriate setting for the "Spring in Paris" theme. Music will be provided by Jimmy Lloyd Rea and the Switchmasters. Don't forget to vote for King and Queen of the prom; the mayors of all four Wallowa County towns and their spouses are in the running. Admission is $15 for singles or $25 for couples, and tickets are available locally at Savoies Specialties, Thompson Auto Supply, JingleBob Vintiques and at the door. The prom is sponsored by Enterprise Merchants Association.
SUNDAY There will be a reading by Fishtrap writer-in-residence Paula Coomer, a poet and short story writer, at 4 p.m. at the Coffin House at 400 E. Grant St. in Enterprise. Dessert will be served following the reading. Admission is by donation.
Wallowa County churches are getting together for the first of what they hope will be many "Worship in the Wallowas" gatherings at 5 p.m. Sunday in the Beth Johnson Room at Wallowa Elementary School. Each church in the county has been invited to lead several songs with their own choir or worship team. Refreshments will be provided. Everyone is welcome.
MONDAYThe Wallowa Branch of American Association of University Women (AAUW) will sponsor a district attorney candidate forum on May 1 at 7 p.m. at the Coffin House at 400 E. Grant St. in Enterprise. The three candidates are Mona K. Williams, Zac Hostetter and incumbent Dan Ousley. The public is welcome to bring questions. All interested persons are invited.
TUESDAYChandler's Bed and Breakfast in Joseph, Wallowa County's first bed and breakfast establishment, is holding an open house from 3 to 7 p.m.
WEDNESDAYThe annual Enterprise FFA Banquet will be held at 7 p.m. on May 4 in the EHS multipurpose room. The dinner, catered by Lear's, is free for FFA parents and supporters. Call Enterprise High School at 426-3193 for more information.
