Eight students and four chaperones attended the 2005 National Future Farmers of America Convention in Louisville, Ky., from Oct. 24 through Nov. 2.
Students attending the convention were Amanda Spang, Theresa Stangel, Lucas Stangel, Kyle McLaughlin, Christina Montgomery, Derek Harvey, Pake Schnetzky, and Tim Wilsey.
Chaperones were Julie Kiesecker, Alan Schnetzky and Jay McFetridge, along with advisor Stephanie Schofield.
Two Enterprise HighSchool graduates were recognized during the convention - Chelcee Noland for being among the top four Outdoor Recreation proficiency winners in the nation and Emily Maasdam for earning the American FFA Degree.
Three Joseph High School graduates -Randal Eschler, Sterling Shetler and Anna Yost - also received the American FFA Degree.
The students attended the speeches of various keynote speakers, including Amanda Gore and Stedman Graham.
They also attended the annual career show which offered over 1,500 college and company sponsored informational booths, and participated in leadership workshops on team and character building.
In addition to convention activities, the group toured several area farms and sights including Adina Springs Thoroughbred farm, Burley Tobacco Farms, a corn and soybean farm, Mammoth Caves, the National Corvette Museum, Churchill Downs and Pleasant Hill Shaker Village.
"It was cool to learn how tobacco was grown and harvested, " Wilsey said about one of his most favorite activities.
"The Kentucky Horse Park was great because along with the tour we got to touch the famous race horses and have pictures taken with them," Spang contributed.
