Four public forums to discuss the ballot measure to form a Wallowa County Fairgrounds Service District will take place starting this evening, Sept. 16.

The measure, appearing on the Nov. 2 general election ballot, would create a countywide district with the ability to assess a maximum tax of 19 cents per $1,000 assessed property value annually.

The revenue would pay for repairs, improvements and maintenance of the fairgrounds in the face of decreasing state support for fairs and fairgrounds.

The forums, all scheduled for 7 p.m., will be:

Enterprise - Tonight, Sept. 16, and Oct. 21 at Cloverleaf Hall.

Wallowa - Sept. 30 at Wallowa Senior Center.

Joseph - Oct. 7 at Joseph Community Center. For information: 415-263-0783.
