Fire snuffed on Bicentennial Lane near Joseph

A fire in rural Joseph that flared up in a stock pile of dry wood was quickly snuffed Friday afternoon by the cooperation of Joseph Fire Department, Enterprise Fire Department and U.S. Forest Service.

Also responding to the fire, located on Bicentennial Lane a few miles northeast of Joseph, was the Wallowa County Sheriff's Office and Emergency Medical Service of Wallowa Memorial Hospital.

Large flames were reported to 911 dispatch shortly before 3:30 p.m. with the information that the woodpile fire was situated near trees and a house. There were no injuries reported. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
