The Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) has awarded $3,197,000 to Wallowa County for bridge construction. The paperwork was reported by county public works director Russ McMartin to the Wallowa County Board of Commissioners Monday morning.
Bridges to be repaired include one on Trout Creek, two on Bear Creek near Wallowa and two on the Upper Imnaha.
Though the money has been approved, McMartin estimates that the actual contract work will not be done until 2005, 2006 or 2007.
The Trout Creek bridge is located on Golf Course Road, the Bear Creek bridges on Frontage Road and the narrow bridge four miles SW of Wallowa, and the Morgan and Summit bridges south of Imnaha.
ODOT earlier agreed to finance the Long and Makin bridges on Eggleson Lane at a combined cost of $912,000, the Bailey bridge approaching the Methodist Church Camp at Wallowa Lake at a cost of $374,000 and the Lewis bridge on the Lower Imnaha at a cost of $508,000.
If plans and bids go as hoped the Eggleson Lane bridges will be rebuilt this summer, the Bailey bridge this fall and the Lewis bridge in 2007.
