Youth 18 years and younger will be offered free lunches this summer in Enterprise, Lostine and Wallowa thanks to the United States Department of Agriculture's Summer Food Service Program. All the kids need to do is show up at the appointed time.

For free lunches youth need to show up Mondays through Fridays at the Enterprise city park from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., at the Lostine city park from 11:30 a.m. to noon or at the Wallowa city park from noon to 12:30 p.m. Entertainment such as puppet shows, story telling, crafts, music and games/sports will be provided.

The program started this past Monday and will continue through Aug. 15. A sample of main courses for the month of June include ham & cheese sandwiches, fish nuggets, taco salad with tortilla, chicken nuggets, macaroni & cheese, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, pizza pockets, oven fried chicken legs, corn dogs, spaghetti with meat sauce and hot dogs on buns.

More volunteers are needed to create activities, supervise and serve the lunches. Anyone interested in helping is encouraged to phone Community Connection at 426-3840.
