Chris Johns, senior editor of illustration for National Geographic and photographer for more than 20 articles for the magazine, eight of which were cover stories, will present a slide show titled "Seeking the Balance" at the Fishtrap House, Aug. 13, at 7 p.m.

Sponsored by Wallowa Resources, Fishtrap and Sustainable Northwest, Johns will discuss the struggle to find a balance between meeting the needs of human beings and the needs of wildlife.

Born in Medford, Johns has traveled from Alaska to Africa's Zambezi River while covering various assignments for National Geographic. His most recently published article, "Searching for Sacagawea," appeared in the February, 2003 issue.
