Nineteen 4-H members participated in the April 4, 2004 annual spring horse judging tour and were judged in four classes of horses and two classes of identification.

The horse classes were hunt seat over fences (Gail Murphy), Morgan mares (Millie Read), mustangs (Barry Cox) and quarter horse mares (Tracy Wick). Senior Joy Kuppinger was overall high point judge with a score of 299 and intermediate Tessa Kuppinger was second with a score of 296.

In the senior division (grades 10-12), Joy Kuppinger was first, Chelcee Noland second, and Kallie Hadden third. In the intermediate division (grades 7-9) Tessa Kuppinger placed first, Paige Bailey second and Wyatt Shetler third.

In the junior division (grades 4-6) Alex McCadden was first, Sierra Hopkins second, and Sadra Beckman third.

4-H members will have two more opportunities for horse judging at the Eastern Oregon Livestock Show and at the Wallowa County Fair. The top senior and intermediate placers will go to the state competition based on the combined score of the three judgings.
