SALEM – Five members of Wallowa County’s 4-H program attended Oregon State Fair as the Wallowa County State Fair Horse Team and did well in competition.  The members attending, all intermediates in the 4-H horse program, were Ally Cooney, Taylor Grote, Caitlin Robb, Jimmy Wells and Gabrielle Wells.

There was one Medallion recipient in dressage, Caitlin Robb, a significant achievement in 4-H horse competition. She competed against 10 other top 4-Hers from throughout the state, and was the only Medallion recipient.

The youths traveled with their families to the state fair for the horse show, which was held Aug. 16 -19.

The youths, representing four different 4-H horse clubs, in Wallowa County, all worked very well together, helping each other throughout the fair.  Their efforts paid off, as the team received blue ribbons in Herdsmanship every day.

Following are the ribbons/awards earned by the local 4-H members:

Ally Cooney –  Red in Showmanship, Trail, and Western Equitation

Taylor Grote –  Blue in Dressage and English Equitation, Red in Showmanship, Hunt Seat Over Fences, and Western Equitation

Caitlin Robb – Medallion in Dressage, Red in Showmanship, English Equitation, and Hunt Seat Over Fences

Jimmy Wells –  Red in Showmanship and Western Equitation

Gabrielle Wells– Blue in Public Speaking
