At its Monday, March 24, meeting, the Wallowa County Health Care District board voted by telephone conferencing to pay $200,000 off of its long-term debt to Community Bank. Because board member and Community Bank CEO Bruce Penoske abstained from voting, a conference call was made to board member Bob Evans to make a quorum.

Evans, acting chairperson Marsha Svendsen and Kate Loftus voted for the motion made by Loftus and seconded by Evans.

The payment will reduce the hospital's loan balance to $725,000. Hospital CEO Larry Davy said that the goal is to have the debt paid off by the end of 2003.
