Joseph student presides at FCCLA convention

State president Jessie Bothum of Joseph presided over the recent State Future Community and Career Leaders of America Convention held at the Monarch convention center in Portland. The theme of the 57th annual meeting was "It Takes a Team."

Seventeen members of the Joseph FCCLA chapter attended the convention, with the following students receiving medals in the STAR (Students Taking Action for Recognition) events:

Gold (national qualifiers) - Interpersonal Communications (Sr.), Haddie Carpenter, Antonia Pfieffer.

Gold - Applied Technology (Sr.), Jake Layton, Derrek Layton; Chapter Service (Sr.), Chad Dotson, John Schmidt; National Programs in Action (Sr.), Peter Brink, Andy Hayes; Illustrated Talk (Sr.), Logan Dodds.

Silver - Focus on Children (Sr.) - Darcy Witherrite, Cassy Parker, Mandy Stroebel; Focus on Children (Jr.), Alayna Brink, Holly Parker, Emily Williams.

Tristan Gorsline served as room coordinator. The Jo-Hi group was accompanied by advisor Marla Dotson and parents Rene Layton, Debbie Hayes, Bonnie Dodds and Mallie Bothum.
