A Chautauqua presentation on "Burning Forests" with historian William Robbins has been scheduled at 7:30 pm., July 22, at the Coffin House at 400 E. Grant St. in Enterprise.

Robbins will speak on the cultural, ecological and economic functions of fire, beginning with prehistory and moving through the onset of white settlement, the emerging timber industry, the creation of the state and federal forestry agencies, the more recent devastating forest fires and the development of forest fire protection efforts.

The presentation is sponsored by Oregon Council for the Humanities. There is no charge.
