Oregon Arts Commission has awarded two more grants to Wallowa County arts groups.

In addition to the $10,000 arts learning grant awarded to Fishtrap in September, the commission has added another $7,553 operating support grant to enhance Fishtrap’s youth programs. Josephy Center for the Arts and Culture also received a $3,000 operating support grant.

Operating support grants are few and far between.

“We often hear that these are the most important grants we award,” said Arts Commission Chair Christopher Acebo. “They alleviate some of the economic pressure and allow Oregon arts organizations to focus on their missions.”

The grants are available to nonprofits with budgets of $150,000 or more with arts at the core of their mission. Of the six operating support grants given to Arts in the Gorge and Eastern Oregon, Wallowa County received two.

Organizations with budgets under $150,000 are eligible to apply for Small Operating Grants.
