Wallowa County District Attorney’s office filed new charges of sex abuse and harassment March 23 on Aaron Douglas Gray, the former Wallowa Memorial Hospital physical therapy director. The new charges are the result of an alleged Nov. 3, 2017, incident involving a patient.

Gray also faces similar charges stemming from a March 5 patient incident. Gray, who is no longer employed by the hospital, is represented by attorney Benjamin Boyd of the Hostetter Law Group.

The new complaint contains three counts of sexual abuse in the third degree and three counts of harassment against Gray. The defendant was already under a conditional release agreement from the initial charges that allowed him to reside in Orofino, Idaho, when the new charges surfaced.

Gray through counsel, made two motions to the court March 26, including an arraignment date of March 28 and that his attorney be allowed to appear in his stead at the arraignment. Judge Thomas Powers denied the motion, ordering Gray to return in person on a $25,000 bail warrant.

A new motion, citing an Oregon Revised Statue, again asked that Boyd be allowed to appear in his client’s stead on the same day. Powers again denied the motion and reiterated the arrest warrant warning.

Gray appeared for arraignment on March 29 and received a release agreement on the new charges. He is slated for a plea hearing at the court May 23 for the original, March 6, charges. Deputy District Attorney Rebecca Frolander is prosecuting both cases.
