The Wallowa Museum Board has extended to the first of next year the deadline for family story submissions for the new Wallowa County History because of the continuing stream of stories being received. The new deadline is Jan. 1, 2016, with stories accepted until Jan. 15 with advance notice.

The book is a continuation of the out-of-print history published by the museum in 1983. Wallowa County families — from pioneer clans to new residents — are urged to submit new or updated histories. A former 500-word limit for free entries has been expanded because the museum board feels that word limit isn’t always sufficient to include interesting background and anecdotes. Those who previously submitted a short version because of the limit are invited to resubmit a more complete version without charge.

One free photo per family history is still allowed. Additional photos are $10 each.

A local writers group will help residents put their family information into printable form and even conduct personal interviews for those who have difficulty writing.

Submit written stories or question to or mail to History Book, 101 S. River St., Room 202, Enterprise OR 97828. Include name, address, phone number and email address.
