MidValley Theatre Company will present one of Agatha Christie’s favorite stories in play form the first two weekends in November.
“A Murder is Announced” will play 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday Nov. 3, 4, 10 and 11. Sunday matinees on Nov. 5 and 12 will begin 2 p.m. The play runs approximately 90 minutes. All performances will be at the Lostine Academy gym.
“It’s always so much fun to sleuth your way through it,” said Kate Loftus Theatre Director. “I acted in this play myself when I was with Lakewood Theater Company back in the ‘80s.”
The play will star two couples in their 20s, and another seven players for other roles – one a walk on.
Although the play is in the genteel style of Agatha Christies novels, there are two murders in the play and plenty of drama.
Auditions are 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 4-5 at Lostine Presbyterian Church.
Rehearsals will begin Monday Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. and are thereafter scheduled every Monday, Tuesday Thursday 6:30 to 8 p.m. Rehearsals will be conducted in the Lostine Academy gym.
Although players are encouraged to attend every rehearsal, those with conflicting family responsibilities can be granted some leeway provide they attend all rehearsals where their character appears in the part of the play under rehearsal.
Tickets will be available at the door for $8.
