The Josephy Center for Arts and Culture and the Wallowa Valley Music Alliance present an evening of Songs and Stories of Horses as part of the month-long exhibit “The Year of the Horse” at the Josephy Center on Oct. 25. The event features music, readings and presentations by Sara Miller & Mike Hale, Rodd Ambroson, Amy Zahm, Janis Carper & Carolyn Lochert, Heidi Muller & Bob Webb, and Emma Carlson.
Mike Hale and Sara Miller enjoy playing old-time cowboy songs, dance music, and original tunes featuring banjo, guitar, concertina and voice.
Singer-songwriters Ambroson, Muller, Carper and Lochert will perform original and cover songs focusing on the horse, including favorites such as “Old Stewball”, Willie Nelson’s “Red Headed Stranger”, and the Rolling Stones’ “Wild Horses.” Emma Carlson, a senior at Enterprise High, will share stories from her recent three-week horse packing trip through the Eagle Cap Wilderness with her dad. Wallowa County native Amy Zahm has a lifelong love of horses and writing and will read from her current work at the event.
