Movie series will move indoors

Wallowa County Safe Communities Coalition” (aka the Git ‘er Done Club) has announced that Movies in the Park was such a hit that the schools moved forward with the plan to have viewings this winter and coming spring.

Joseph, Enterprise, Wallowa agreed to split the licensing fee with Building Healthy Families to show movies with a projector system at each of the three sites.

The next movie showing, for the Wallowa basketball team and the visiting out-of-town team, will be in Wallowa Dec. 7.

The group is working on continuing to increase recruitment. If you are interested in helping, contact Ron Pickens at rpickens@oregonbhf.org. The agenda at upcoming meetings includes planning the prom and discussing plans for the Chief Joseph Days Dance.

Josephy plans ‘Gift of Art’ Dec. 7

Josephy Center for Arts and Culture will hold its annual “Gift of Art” sale Friday, Dec. 7.

The community is invited out for a night of fun, bid on art pieces and help raise money for the Youth Art Program.

The bidding runs all day and ends at 8:30 p.m. Many local and regional artists offer their work for sale. Food and drinks are also served.

If you are an artist, it’s not to late to participate. Artists will receive 50 percent of the sales. Deadline is Dec. 2. Contact Megan Wolfe coordinator@josephy.org.

Fishtrap offering next ‘Fireside’

Wallowa County residents Tan Hermens, Daniel Iacob and Rob Taylor will be the featured readers for Fishtrap Fireside 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 7. The event is at Fishtrap, 400 East Grant St., Enterprise. Admission is free.

Light snacks and refreshments are served. Donations welcome.

An open mic follows where audience members have a chance to get up to the podium and share their stories.

December’s Fireside is sponsored by The BookLoft. Firewood provided by Jay Zee Lumber.

Schools plan holiday concerts

All three Wallowa County school districts are planning holiday concerts.

In Joseph, students in fourth through 12th grade will perform at the school 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 11. Students kindergarten through third grade will perform 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12.

Enterprise students grades kindergarten through fifth will perform their annual holiday concert 2 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the Enterprise High School gym. The sixth grade band and grades 7-12 band and choir will perform 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 18.

Wallowa’s grade 5-12 band and choir will perform in concert 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 12, at the school cafeteria. Students in grades kindergraten through fourth will perform 6 p.m. TUesday, Dec. 18 at the Wallowa High School Gym.
