An album release listening party for “When I Was A Tree” will be 3 p.m. Monday, Dec. 3, at Josephy Center in Joseph.
Cushions, couches and rugs will be provided for the audience to lay on and listen to the album for the very first time. Physical copies of the CD will be available at the end of the hour-long gathering for $15.
The album is a collaboration between pianist Seth Kinzie and Andy Steele, an experimental jazz percussionist from La Grande. They have been working on modern piano and drums compositions for the last two years, themed around beauty and space and recorded the album this summer on a Steinway B piano in Lostine.
The album features a variety of musical genres –– classical, jazz, modern, rock and cinematic –– showcasing the shifting landscapes of their mind.
