The Sage Creek Fire, located near the confluence of Deer Creek and Sage Creek in Wallowa County, is currently 17 acres, the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest reported Wednesday morning. Fire engines, fire crews, dozers, helicopters and water tenders will be working the fire today, totaling over 50 personnel.

The fire is burning in grass and timber and was caused by lightning. Weather today is expected to be in the 90s with afternoon winds. Firefighter and public safety remain the top priorities.
