Max Walker Memorial Cowboy Gathering opens Friday

Little fiddler Bailey Vernam of Joseph is in the lineup at the Cowboy Gathering.

Local and visiting cowboy poets and musicians are in the lineup for the Hells Canyon Mule Days Max Walker Memorial Cowboy Gathering on Friday nigh,t Sept. 11, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Wallowa County Fairgrounds in Enterprise.

Opening the show will be "Here's to the Heroes," a tribute for 9/11 and others not to be forgotten.

Stan Kvistad from Malott, Wash., will head up the evening show with his poetry and western storytelling. The lineup also includes Jim Aason, Andy Bales, Peggy Brennan, J. R. Groupe, Bill Henke, The Prairie Creek Girls, Janie Tippet, Bonnie Shields and Alisha Young.

Admission is free but a donation of $5 will support the Max Walker Memorial Scholarship Fund.

On Saturday afternoon will be a Gathering at 2:30 in the Exhibitors' Barn.
