The tow truck business serving the Enterprise and Joseph areas has expanded its fleet, recently adding a bigger wrecker capable of pulling larger vehicles.
Mike Musia, the owner of Mike's Garage on Main Street in Joseph, purchased a medium-duty wrecker late this summer. The tow truck can assist a large variety of vehicles, including tractors, RVs and even hay trucks. Musia also has a standard light-duty wrecker and a flat-bed truck.
"We have had a big increase in business with D&R going out of business," Musia said. "It's unfortunate D&R went out of business because this county lost several jobs. But I hired an additional person to do my towing."
Musia also is adding another mechanic to his staff. "We do everything except change body parts and squirt paint," he said.
Musia is the second generation to run Mikes Garage. His family purchased the business in 1984. The business was started in the 1970s. Musia continued the business after his father died in 1997.
"After college I came back and worked here," said Musia, a graduate of Joseph High School.
Musia is a volunteer firefighter for the Joseph Fire Department. He also owns a contract wildfire suppression company, which does work for state and federal agencies in the summer, often being dispatched throughout Oregon and Washington and at times to California to help fight forest fires.
Volunteering as a firefighter in Joseph is one of the ways Musia gives back to the community. "I like being there to help the community," he said.
Mikes Towing is AAA approved. The business is busiest in the summer, but has drivers standing by at all times.
"In the summer time we have as many as three or four calls a day," he said.
Mike's Garages phone number is 432-3221. It is located at 503 N. Main in Joseph.
