Minam fatality

Drivers step out of their vehicles for a break Sept. 11 as they wait for traffic to be allowed through while waiting for wreckage from a fatal accident to be cleared. One child died and another was taken by air ambulance to a Boise hospital. The accident, which occurred in late morning, was backed up about 4 miles at 2:30 p.m. and didn’t get moving westbound until about 3:15 p.m., according to one witness. The eastbound lane was let through later. Oregon State Police said traffic was held up for about 5 hours total.
