Rotating copper music boxes; a variety of desk, shelf and wall clocks; and custom-crafted figurines highlight just a few of the offerings at My Gift Shop, a new business in Enterprise operated by John and Mary Thompson.

John Thompson said he noticed that there were no gift stores in Enterprise, per se, and he saw an opportunity to offer something new to the community in the way of special gifts that wouldn't require a drive to La Grande.

In addition to the above offerings, Thompson said the store has quite a number of religiously themed gifts, as well as some patriotic items. Special bath items, incense, oils, rings and other jewelry, children's toys, baby shower gifts and other items fill the shop at the corner of Main and NW First Streets.

"We're starting small with our selection, but ultimately want to expand to the top floor of the building," he said. "And we have a number of catalogs here that people can order out of. We can drop ship to anywhere directly from the factory."

Thompson, raised in Wallowa County, but back for the past four years after a 20-year absence, said that My Gift Shop is his first merchandise-oriented business, although he's been a restauranteur and owned a roofing company in the past. The Thompsons' store is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
