Seubert Excavators of Cottonwood, Idaho, has been setting up a rock crushing plant on the Steve Wolfe Ranch off Baker Road between Wallowa and Lostine in preparation for 33 miles of Oregon Department of Transportation highway work to be completed this summer. Tidewater Construction of Brookings has been granted a $1.5 million contract to complete the project.

Tidewater has indicated that it will begin work after the 4th of July and is looking toward a completion date of Aug. 25.

Some hot mix and cold mix paving work will be applied, but the major portion of work will be the chip sealing of the highway from Rock Creek five miles northwest of the city of Wallowa to the end of Hwy. 351 at Wallowa Lake. Road work will not be done through the cities of Lostine, Enterprise and Joseph, but paving and chip seal work will be implemented through the city of Wallowa.

Motorists can expect reduced speeds and some traffic delays.

Tidewater has already completed work on guardrails and bridges.
