The 14th Annual Oregon Mountain Cruise turned out to be a huge success according to organizer Chuck Garrett of Joseph. "We had a lot of new people and cars this year, plus it didn't snow like last weekend," Garrett said.

A total of 226 cars lined the main street of Joseph for the event which Garrett called the best cruise yet.

An iridescent 1937 Ford owned by Jim Tier of Salem drove away with the King of the Mountain honors. This was the first time that Tier had made the drive to the O.M.C. "This is the best cruise that I have ever been to," he said.

The King of the Mountain is voted on by registered cruise participants.

The People's Choice Award went to a high gloss black '36 Chevy Coupe owned by Joe and Ann Shaffer from Gaston.

Cruise organizers employed an improved parking system this year that used color coded poker chips. The new system allowed for a smoother parking process on Saturday morning.

A poker walk with a magic show theme was also a hit on Saturday. Approximately 125 registered cruisers walked to five different locations in the Civic Center in Joseph. Participants had to guess magic tricks to receive cards. The best high and low poker hands were the winners.

On Sunday approximately 75 cars traveled to the parking area at the foot of Wallowa Lake with some staying to participate in the winners circle. " It was a chance for everyone to see the cars up close and personal with the lake as a backdrop,"Garrett said.

The 15th OMC is scheduled for June 21 next year.
