Timothy Francis Cross-Hix, 33, of Pilot Rock was seriously injured the evening of Oct. 31 in a one-vehicle accident six miles south of Lostine on the Lostine Canyon Road. He was extricated from his 1982 Dodge pickup by the Wallowa Volunteer Fire Department Jaws of Life and transported by ambulance to Wallowa Memorial Hospital. He was then stabilized and Life Flighted out of the county for further treatment.

Cross-Hix had been a caretaker on the property of David Lundquist.

Wallowa County Sheriff Sgt. John Campbell said that Cross-Hix went off the road at about 8:20 p.m., hit a tree, overcorrected, then went over an embankment on the other side of the road. Driving northbound, Campbell said the Pilot Rock man will be charged with DUII, with other charges pending further investigation.

Responding to the emergency call were the Wallowa and Enterprise ambulances, the Wallowa Volunteer Fire Department, Wallowa County Sheriff's Officers and the Oregon State Police.
