Sam Summers joins council

ENTERPRISE – The Enterprise City Council has appointed Sam Summers, manager of the local US Cellular business, to serve the remaining portion of the late Doug Terry’s city council term, which expires in January.

Summers, a past president of the Wallowa County Chamber of Commerce, submitted a brief letter applying for the post on Aug. 7. The council approved the appointment at its Aug. 13 meeting.

Candidacy deadlines

The cities of Enterprise, Lostine, Wallowa and Joseph have various established deadlines for accepting candidacy filings for their respective city government elections.

The deadlines are as follows:

• Enterprise: Aug. 28 at noon.

• Lostine: Aug. 24 at 4 p.m.

• Joseph: Aug. 28 at 4 p.m.

• Wallowa: Aug. 24 at noon.
