Summer vacation is almost over for Wallowa County students and school bells will start ringing next week.

The Enterprise School District will lead the way, with a full day of classes planned on Wednesday, Aug. 29, for grades kindergarten through 6, and a half-day for grades seven through 12. From 1 to 4 p.m. freshman conferences will be held, with the parents of ninth graders due to get designated conference times in the mail.

An open house for Enterprise grades K-6 is scheduled from 4:30 to 6 p.m. next Tuesday, Aug. 28, the day before school starts.

All students in the Wallowa School District will begin their 2012-13 school year with a full day of classes Thursday, Aug. 30. High school registration is under way at designated times this week.

Troy students start school Friday, Aug. 31, with a new teacher, Fred Byers, who is moving to Troy from the Ontario area.

Joseph Charter School students, grades kindergarten through 12, will wait until Tuesday, Sept. 4, the day after Labor Day, to begin the year with a full day of classes.
