A pickup truck driven by Gregory Blackman, 63, of La Grande, slid off the road, hit an embankment and rolled over onto Highway 82 last Thursday during a snowstorm, according to Wallowa County Sheriff Fred Steen.
The accident happened at 4:47 p.m. about a mile east of Enterprise as snow was falling heavily. Blackman was traveling westbound towards Lostine when he lost traction, over-corrected and slid towards the embankment, Steen said. The truck flipped up on its side, landing in the highway, Steen said. Enterprise ambulance and fire department, Enterprise Police Department and the Wallowa County Sheriff's Office all responded to the accident.
Two passengers, Castillo Leonel, 37, and Hsu Jeffrey, 30, both of La Grande, were uninjured. The driver was uninjured two. No one was transported to the hospital. No citations were issued.
The drivers and passengers all worked for Bagett-Griffith & Blackman Inc Surveyors of La Grande.
Traffic was blocked for a few minutes while a wrecker up-righted the pickup and cleaned up the mess.
In another accident, Sherrill Leehman of Joseph flipped a four-wheeler she was driving near Airway Road and Woodland in Joseph. The accident happened at 3:19 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
A deputy responded along with Enterprise ambulance, following a 911 call.
Steen declined to comment on the nature of Leehman's injuries but said they were severe enough that she was put in the trauma system and was later transported to a hospital in Spokane, Wash.
