Spring Creek and Wallowa Mountains’ snowpack

Low Snowpack? Two horses look for breakfast Monday morning along Spring Creek, south of Enterprise. Snowpack on the north side of the Wallowa Mountains is only about 75-80 percent according to Feb. 3 Natural Resources Conservation Service SNOTEL site data. The south and west side of the mountains seems to be faring better, with around 100 percent. Additional precipition anticipated in a wet though warm February and March may improve things before winter ends. See story on page 6.
